Frequently Asked Questions - Spa at The Essex

Q: When is Spa at The Essex open?

A: Hours of Operation:
Spa Facilities: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Spa & Salon Appointments Available: 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Spa Boutique: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Fitness Center/Indoor Pool: 5:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Q: Are there any restrictions on who can use the Spa?

A: All Resort guests enjoy complimentary use of the fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, oversized hot tub, spa relaxation lounges, steam rooms and saunas. Non-Resort guests may enjoy the facilities for $40/day.

Q: What if I have health concerns?

A: We ask all Spa guests to please let us know if you have blood pressure concerns, allergies, or any other physical ailments or disabilities. Please also make us aware if you are pregnant or using Retin A, Accutane, or Renova.

Q: How should I prepare for my Spa appointment?

A: For your safety and wellbeing we highly discourage alcohol consumption prior to Spa treatments. Men and women should avoid shaving before certain treatments. Please drink plenty of water (at least two glasses of water per each hour of treatment or exercise) to help your body process the effects of your treatment or exercise session. Inquire of our knowledgeable staff when you make your appointment as to further suggestions.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Our signature plush robes, slippers, and personal lockers are provided for all Spa guests. Most of our guests prefer to fully undress for treatments, as our staff is professionally trained in proper draping, designed to ensure modesty and comfort throughout the service. However, if you would be more comfortable, you may wear undergarments for your treatment. To ensure safety, proper clothing and closed-toe fitness shoes are required in the fitness center and exercise classes.

Q: Is there a place for me to store my valuables?

A: While we do provide lockers for each guest, we ask that you please do not bring jewelry or other valuables to the Spa. Unfortunately, we are not able to take responsibility for valuables that are lost or left at the Spa. In addition-- to preserve our tranquil environment, we prohibit cell phones in the Spa and Salon areas.

Q: When should I arrive for my appointment?

A: To enjoy our Recipe for Relaxation, we invite you to arrive for your Spa appointment no later than a half-hour before the scheduled start. The extra time will allow you to enhance the effectiveness by first unwinding in our steam rooms, saunas, and relaxation lounges. Please also allow enough time for a shower; the beneficial oils used in our treatments are best absorbed through clean skin.

Q: What if I need to postpone or cancel my appointment?

A: Please note that treatments begin at the time scheduled. To ensure that all guests receive their full treatment, late arrivals will end at the originally scheduled time. Because your services are reserved especially for you, please notify the Spa by 4:00 p.m. the day prior to your scheduled appointment to re-schedule or cancel. The full value of the service or package will be charged for re-scheduling or cancellations made after 4:00 p.m. the day before the appointment.

Q: Can you accommodate groups or large parties?

A: Yes. Gather friends and family for an unparalleled VT Spa experience. Our relaxation lounges provide the perfect place to gather between treatments. Full catering and beverage service may be arranged in advance. We customize parties for adults and young adults. Join us for your next birthday, anniversary, wedding shower, baby shower, graduation or day out with friends.

Q: Can I get something to eat or drink at the Spa?

A: YES. We are proud to offer a select menu of flavorful, fresh and organic foods which may be enjoyed in our Social Lounge. Please inquire at the Spa Desk for our seasonal offerings and complete beverage service. View our Spa Menu here.

Q: Are children welcome in the Spa?

A: Spa treatments are available to guests aged 16 and over. For guests aged 12 to 15 (accompanied by an adult), we offer a variety of specifically-designed young adult services. Children under age 12 are not eligible for treatments. The indoor pool, outdoor pool, and fitness center are open to all ages.

Q: Is the gratuity included?

A: For your convenience, a 19% gratuity will be automatically added to all services and packages. You may adjust the gratuity to reflect your level of satisfaction with our services.

Q: Can I purchase the products used during my treatment?

A: Yes. In addition to products used in our Spa and Salon, our Spa Boutique features a selection of casual wear and gift items.

Q: Can I purchase Spa gift certificates?

A: YES. An ideal year-round gift for any occasion, gift certificates are available in any denomination.
